In order to protect US national security, Huawei has been restricted from purchasing this technology product. Reuters cannot determine how the chip was ultimately installed on Huawei products.

The US Department of Commerce stated that it is aware of reports of possible violations of US export controls, but cannot comment on whether any investigation is underway.
